Over the past few years, EDX a.k.a. Maurizio Colella has made a name for himself in the international dance music scene, headlining the world’s finest clubs and festivals – from Miami to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, São Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, Taipei, all the way to Sydney. The chart topping Swiss DJ/Producer has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Axwell, Benny Benassi, Kelis, Deadmau5, Armand Van Helden, Bob Sinclar, Kool & The Gang, Kaskade, Armin van Buuren, Steve Angello, Dubfire and many others. His remixes have been consistently featured on various DJ charts such as the DMC Buzz, Cool Cuts, and Beatport. EDX was even ranked in the Top 3 of Beatport’s Best Progressive House Artists alongside Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz.
His involvement in the music industry began at an early age, but his steady output of masterful productions and exceptional performances have made EDX an exemplary success story. Back in 2011, he launched his weekly radio show ‘No Xcuses’ on Sirius XM’s Electric Area Channel, and that year, he spent the summer holding a residency at the world’s number one nightclub – Space, Ibiza.
EDX continued his success into 2012 with the release of his debut album, ‘On The Edge.’ A two year labour of love, EDX worked tirelessly to create this 14-track magnum opus featuring some of the most incredible vocalists in the genre; including platinum selling artist Nadia Ali, Sarah McLeod, Tamra Keenan, Hadley, Sam Obernik, John Williams and Jerique. ‘On The Edge’ resulted in the hit single, ‘Give It Up For Love’ featuring John Williams, and the anthem, ‘This Is Your Life’ with Nadia Ali. With ‘On The Edge,’ EDX’s musical vision finally came to fruition and marked the beginning of what has been a prolific career as a producer to date.
In 2013, EDX manifested new dimensions in his productions without diminishing the strong connection to his roots. On some of his own originals and remixes, as well as his collaborations with Leventina, he produced a fresh, clubby style fit for the new age of dance music, gaining support from some of the most esteemed artists in the industry: David Guetta, Afrojack, and Avicii, to name just a few. While EDX explored new sonic frontiers, he pleased new and old fans alike by revitalizing the timeless EDX signature sound on songs such as ‘Sunset Miracles’ (Spinnin’), ‘Touched’(Toolroom), and ‘Blessed’ (Toolroom).
After riding a wave of success through 2014 that saw him become the second best-selling deep house artist on Beatport, with smash songs like ‘Reckless Ardor’ and ‘Breathin’, EDX entered 2015 with relentless determination, holding his prominent, influential position in dance music as a trusted tastemaker. In the midst of his major festival performances around the world, including Ultra Music Festival (Miami), EDC (Las Vegas), TomorrowWorld, and World Club Dome he kept the masses in his grasp with more outstanding releases, such as ‘Belong’, ‘Revered’ and his remix of Sam Feldt’s ‘Show Me Love’ which reached a staggering 80 million+ plays on SoundCloud alone.
On top of his releases and touring last year, EDX also hit the 1 million downloads mark on his ‘No Xcuses’ radio show and podcast, and was named #1 top charting artist on Beatport in 2015, beating heavy competition from everyone from Tiesto to Maceo Plex – a testament not only to his devotion to his craft, but also his growing popularity.
Never one to rest on his laurels, the beginning of 2016 saw EDX take North America by storm with the hugely successful No Xcuses vs. Enormous Tunes Bus Tour and spellbinding star studded show at SET for Miami Music Week, as well as editions in Las Vegas and Zurich. Continuing into the summer, the Swiss sensation revealed his plans to dominate Europe with his world famous radio show and brand, announcing a 10-date residency at world-renowned super club Privilege Ibiza alongside his Helvetic Nerds label mate Nora En Pure. Add to this a string of incredible releases including ‘Missing’, a two track ‘Touch Her, Feel Her’ EP, a stunning remix of Birdy’s ‘Words’ and 2016 reworks of both ‘Roadkill’ and ‘My Friend’, it’s clear that when it comes to cooking up catchy club ready cuts, EDX has the recipe.
November 2016 saw EDX release his sensational single ‘High For You’ as well as reaching yet another music milestone, as he celebrated the 300th episode of his No Xcuses radio show, aired during a special live show on Sirius XM, further proof of his unbelievable reach and dedication.
Looking ahead to 2017 and beyond, you can be sure that EDX has plenty in store as he continues to impress the most demanding audiences around and earn his place amongst dance music royalty.
